Certified EMDR Therapist

Introduction

Welcome to the EMDR Hong Kong Certification program!
Our Certification program is dedicated to recognizing therapists who excel in EMDR practice, for further personal growth and for professional recognition beyond the Basic EMDR Therapy Training.

Upon completing the Certification Program, graduates are awarded with a Certificate of “Certified EMDR Therapist”. In addition, this title will be included in the graduate’s listing in the Hong Kong EMDR Therapist Registry, and the Find a Therapist listing.

The Certification by EMDRHK in Hong Kong aligns with the Certification of EMDRIA in the USA. In addition, it is also tailored to meet unique needs of the Hong Kong community.

Our Certification Program is available in both English and Cantonese.

Criteria for getting Certified

To become a Certified EMDR Therapist, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Experience and practice in general counseling: A minimum of 2 years of one-to-one general counseling experience (excluding internship post-graduation).
  2. Completion of the EMDR Therapy Basic Training: Holding a Certificate of Completion (COC) issued by EMDRHK, or by an overseas institution /trainer recognized by EMDRHK.
  3. Experience and Practice in EMDR Therapy: A minimum of 50 EMDR therapy sessions with at least 25 different clients after completion of the EMDR Therapy Basic Training.
  4. Guidance & Supervision (G&S):
    1. A minimum of 20 sessions of EMDR G&S, after completion of the EMDR Therapy Basic Training, out of which a minimum of 10 individual sessions, and the rest in small groups sessions of no more than 6 participants per session.  Each session has a length of minimum 50 minutes of interactive participation, and limited to one session per day.
    2. All sessions conducted within the last 5 years.
    3. The sessions are to be conducted by EMDRHK or by a Trainer/Consultant approved by EMDRHK.
